Awards
The life of Cesiomaggiore Folk Group is marked by some important awards that underlined the goals reached and the limits to exceed.
The first of them, got in 1976, came from the participation to the 7th International Folk Contest of Gorizia, where the Group won the silver medal for the "reproduced folklore" class. At that moment it even got some invaluable advices for the research in fields of music and popular dance, but even to go over with the collection of material about farmer life, that the Group started in 1973, with the ambitious idea of establishing an ethnographic museum.
In 1979 the Group took part in the 4th National Folk Festival of Caltanisetta, connected with a national contest of folk songs.
The Group reach the finals, getting the 3rd place.
The most coveted award was got in 1985, during the participation to the 17th edition of the Festival of Highland Folklore of Zakopane, in Poland.
The Group took part in it just for fun, but the strict and highly qualified jury, made up of musicologists, ethnologists and anthropologists from several european countries, acknowledging its merits, gave to the Group the coveted first prize: the "golden axe" for the "Reconstructed Folklore with Artistic Arrangements" category.
In 1992 the Group took part in the International Folk Festival of Kosice (Slovakia), getting the second prize.
